Trump doubles back to hit Cruz

A day after accepting the GOP nomination for President, Donald Trump was not focused on his main challenger Hillary Clinton, but instead on Friday was still fighting primary battles with Ted Cruz, as Trump floated the idea of creating a Super PAC that would snuff out any political efforts by Cruz or Gov. John Kasich.

“Honestly he may have ruined his political career,” Trump said of Cruz, returning to the refusal of the Texas Senator to endorse Trump, as Trump seemed unable to let go of the matter and move on to his November match up with Hillary Clinton.

“I don’t want his endorsement,” Trump said today of Cruz.

Trump also again talked about a National Enquirer story that linked Cruz’s father to Lee Harvey Oswald – who assassinated President Kennedy.

Trump has never offered any evidence to support the story, but just sort of fans the flames of it, and keeps mentioning it, something that Cruz noted this week had kept him from endorsing Trump.

You could sense from watching Trump at his news conference that he was energized by talking about Cruz, and enjoyed mixing it up again with his chief primary rival.

But you also have to wonder why Trump would do that – when he needs to be spending his time on Hillary Clinton – and some of his supporters noticed that as well.

So, watch Trump in the days ahead. Can he stay focused on Clinton? Or will he keep doubling back to throw a few insults at Cruz as well.
